Is it possible for me to apply for a grant when I have applied/was granted an Erasmus scholarship (or any other scholarship)?
There is no objection from the Amsterdam University Fund if another fund also contributes to the financing of your activity.
-
As a student from abroad, can I apply for a grant from the AUF to study at the UvA?
Unfortunately, the Amsterdam University Fund does not have any funds at its disposal to facilitate the financing of foreign students. An exception to this applies to scholarships for refugee students from the Study without Borders Fund. If this is the case, please contact us.
-
Which grant best suits my situation?
Consult your student counselor to inform you about all available scholarships for students and PhD students.
-
Can I apply for a grant retroactively?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to apply for scholarships after you have already undertaken your activity. It is necessary to apply for a grant prior to the intended activity.
-
I missed the application deadline, can I still apply?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to submit an application for a grant after the deadline. In exceptional circumstances you can contact us by email via subsidieaanvragen-auf@uva.nl. Make sure that your situation and reason for missing the deadline is sufficiently motivated and enclose supporting documents for explanation.
-
Who should the recommendation letter be from?
The letter of recommendation must be written by at least one lecturer who is involved in the program and must be signed and printed on UvA paper. If an email is submitted, it must be clear that the email was sent from the teacher's email address.
-
What should be stated in the recommendation letter?
The letter of recommendation should be specific to the applicant. The lecturer is free to decide the contents of the letter of recommendation. It is important for the teacher to motivate why he/she thinks the grant should be awarded to the applicant.
-
What information must be included in the motivation letter?
It is important to motivate what the personal reasons are for wanting to undertake an activity and to state what the added value is on a personal and academic level by undertaking this activity. The allowed size of the document is a maximum of two pages in A4 format.
-
I am not able to submit all documents before the application deadline, can I still apply and submit those documents later?
Ensure that the application includes all required attachments. If this is not possible, instead send a document in the required field with an explanation of why the document cannot be submitted and when you plan to do so.
-
I have uploaded the wrong documents, is it possible to modify my application?
Save the documents with the title: [Request no.]_[Document]. You can find the four-digit reference number with your application. You can then send an email to subsidieaanvragen-auf@uva.nl with the subject '[Request no.] Additional documents'.
-
When can I expect to receive a decision on my application?
All grant applications will be reviewed during the next board meeting. You will receive an award letter or a rejection letter within two weeks after the board has met. An exception applies to Individual travel grant applications: Within six weeks of the date of submission of the application you will receive an e-mail with a notice of grant or rejection.
-
When can I expect a payment if I was awarded with a grant?
All awarded scholarships will be paid within two weeks upon receipt of travel tickets to the specified destination. The travel tickets can be sent to subsidieaanvragen-auf@uva.nl. An exception to this applies to project grants; these payment dates may differ.
-
Is there a single or monthly payment of the grant?
All grant payments are single payments. An exception to this applies to project grants; these payments may be made in installments.
-
What will be done with the travel report and the photos that must be submitted?
We would like to be informed about the progress of your activity. We also wish to inform our donors about expenditure from the fund. We may include your travel report in the newsletter and/or annual report of the Amsterdam University Fund. If we intend to use one of your photos for our website, online newsletter or other publications, we will ask your permission.
