The coronavirus spreads rapidly and has disrupted our daily lives and society unimaginably in a relatively short period of time. Scientists, doctors and all other employees at the Amsterdam Medical Center UMC are working with relentless energy to find a solution. The usual process from writing research proposals to receiving the necessary funding now takes too long. Thanks to this 'emergency fund', necessary research can start immediately.

That is why we are addressing you. Will you help to support researchers at the Amsterdam UMC?

'This exceptional situation calls for exceptional measures. If scientists are quickly able to gain more insight into the virus, we can hopefully find a solution fast'. Joost Wiersinga, internist and head of infectious diseases at Amsterdam UMC.

The fund is supported by the Amsterdam University Fund and the fundraising institutions of Amsterdam UMC and VU and offers individuals, companies and organisations the opportunity to contribute to the fight against the coronavirus. In addition to the participating funds, the UvA and the VU have each made an initial donation of € 25,000 to the Corona Research Fund.

Who are the initiators?

The CRF is an initiative of AMC Foundation, Amsterdam University Fund, VU Association, VU Fund and VUmc Fund. The fund is supported by the Boards of Governors of the UvA and VU and the Board of Directors of Amsterdam UMC.
